“Office creepers” describes people who prowl office buildings looking for opportunities to steal. They sometimes disguise themselves as service personnel picking up equipment for repair. They look for office equipment or workers’ personal belongings, like purses, that are left unattended. When given the opportunity, they steal property and leave. The best way to protect your property is to secure your workplace to prevent any unauthorized entry. Require everyone entering the office to check in with a receptionist, or an employee positioned closest to the door. Take turns during lunchtime or breaks watching the door. Protect your personal belongings by locking them in a drawer or cabinet.  If you see people in your building moving about as if they are lost, offer to help them. If they are lost, you are a good ambassador for your company — but if that person is a thief, you have alerted them that you are watching and they will most likely leave.
