Dallas-based nonprofit organization, To Be Like Me, will exhibit at Galleria Dallas throughout May.

The organization promotes empathy, kindness, and compassion through disability awareness programs led by individuals living with disabilities. The exhibition is titled, “Be a Part of the Ripple Effect of Kindness.”

“The Gallery Wall at Galleria Dallas will help To Be Like Me engage the community in our mission and raise awareness of our important work,” said Hollis Owens, founder and executive director of the nonprofit.

To Be Like Me employs individuals with disabilities or differences as LEADers (Leaders in Education and Advocacy for Disabilities). Galleria shoppers can meet some of its LEADers from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, and Saturday, May 25, who will share knowledge about wheelchairs, sign language service dogs, and Braille.

“To Be Like Me has worked to educate more than 6,500 students, teachers and community members this school year alone,” said Megan Townsend, Galleria Dallas director of marketing. “We’re proud to feature the nonprofit on our Gallery Wall in May and encourage shoppers to stop and take a moment to be part of its ripple effect of kindness.”

The exhibit will feature tips on communicating with someone using a wheelchair, the Braille alphabet, and sign language basics. Guests are invited to participate in a challenge to post a video of themselves signing their names.

The exhibit will be featured on the Gallery Wall on level one next to Apple from May 1 to 30.
