For me, a pedicure upgrade means dropping in when the salon is empty and I have a good book. But at the just-opened Pampered Soles, upgrades include perks like a hour-long deep tissues foot massage, oatmeal foot masks, and raw sugar scrubs for your heels.  The dozen packages here even include special pedicures for expectant mothers and women with diabetes.

Every customer gets her own set of nail tools, which are neatly kept in a numbered cubby. Polish selection includes colors by the likes of Christian Dior and Chanel. There’s also valet service, curtained pedicure booths for privacy, and should you get hungry, staffers serve up snacks like roasted peppers stuffed with goat cheese.

But all that extra pampering will cost you. Pedicures here range $30 to $60, and a manicure will run you another $20 to $35.
