The Dallas Bar Association is hosting a Christmas in July event, accepting donations for the Genesis Women’s Shelter, The Family Place and the North Texas Food Bank.

Based near Park Cities, Genesis provides safety and shelter to battered women and their children in the Greater Dallas area. Right now, its greatest needs include school supplies, medicine, toiletries, office supplies, household goods and baby items.

The Family Place, which operates a consignment store at Marsh and Forest, offers support for family violence victims. The organization puts 10 to 12 women in new apartments each month and needs starter kits, which include all kinds of household items and toiletries.

The North Texas Food Bank is taking donations for protein food items like canned beans and meats, canned veggies, powdered milk, formula, cereals and shelf stable cheese. But the biggest focus this season is shelf stable milk.

You can give to these organizations all year round but if you want to hit all three at once, bring your items to the DBA’s drive 9 a.m.-noon July 30 at the Belo Mansion on Ross.
