Two break-ins occurred Friday afternoon in the Hillcrest East neighborhood on Royal Place, and thanks to video surveillance and some handy, mobile technology, one of them was stopped. The owners, who were not at home, were alerted via iCam software. It takes video from a laptop inside the house and streams to the iPhone. You can watch the attempted robbery here, and it’s sufficiently creepy. The owners also had an alarm system that sounded and scared the criminals off – after they broke the glass door.
The other house two doors down was not so lucky. The place was completely ransacked.
