In the minds of children, summer is a time to live footloose and fancy-free. From a parent’s perspective, summer is a time when they must find ways to occupy easily bored children. The perfect compromise? Day camp. Here are a few options:

The Greenhill School is offering programs May 31-August 12 for children aged 3 – 18. Classes start at $60 for a one-week program and include everything from karate to money management.

The Hockaday School offers similar programs June 13-July 22, also for children aged 3-18. Classes start at $135 for a two-week class. Popular camps include fencing and “Harry Potter” A to Z.

W.T. White High School will offer the High Intensity Volleyball Camp for students in grades 7-12 6:00-8:30 p.m. during June 13-16. Questions and concerns should be directed to Coach Brown or Coach Landy.

The Episcopal School of Dallas summer camps run May 30-August 15 for 3-18 year-olds. Courses begin at $75 for a week and include Camp Barbie and yoga.

The Winston School offers summer programs for “bright students who learn differently” June 6-July 29. Classes start at $225 for a one-week session. Programs are for students in grades 1-12 and include Art throughout Time and credit classes such as Algebra I.

Hillcrest High School is offering a baseball camp 9:00 a.m.-noon during the week of June 6-10 for boys entering grades 2-8. The camp costs $100 for the first camper and $75 for each additional family member. Topics include hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, base running and infield/outfield.

The Parish Episcopal School will offer summer programs June 1-July 29 for children aged 2-18. Programs start at $105 for a one-week class. Parish offers classes such as Kitchen Khemistry and Writing the College Essay.

Each school mentioned opens their summer programs to students from any school and most offer sports camps.

The Jewish Community Center offers camps to members June 13-August 12 including Teen Travel Camp and Gymnastics Camp. Camps are for children aged 2 through those entering ninth grade.
