In our November issue of the Preston Hollow Advocate, I wrote about neighborhood resident Michelle Armour who earlier this year founded Foster Kids Charity, a nonprofit that provides care packages for abused and neglected children caught up in the Dallas and Tarant County foster care systems.

Her backstory is pretty powerful. Read about the tragic moment that changed her life. Ever since, she has dedicated her life to supporting foster children.

Now, as the holidays get near, the nonprofit urgently needs donations, particularly clothing for boys and girls ages 6-10. They also need toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks and underwear. Armour only accepts new items.

Donations can be dropped 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Foster Kids Charity office at Hillcrest and LBJ.

You also can support the cause by attending a benefit at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Hall of State where there will be live music, a magician and a President Barack Obama impersonator. Tickets are $85.
