Preston Hollow residents Mike and Amy Zicarelli have spent a lot of time at Children’s hospital. Their son Luke has eosinophilic disorder, an autoimmune disease in which the body produces too many eosinophils that release toxins to get rid of allergens. It becomes more than just food allergies. The body attacks itself, resulting in tissue damage and chronic inflammation. There is no cure.

The Zicarellis are giving back to the medical institution that has helped Luke battle his disease. Amy is the honorary chairperson for one of the largest fundraisers for Children’s. It features an annual Family Fun Night 5-11 p.m. April 20 at Six Flags. The event has become a tradition for many Preston Hollow families, Amy says. Proceeds benefit the Women’s Auxiliary for Children’s. Buy tickets for the event at Tom Thumb or Kidville.

The week of the event, the Zicarellis will visit patients at Children’s with characters from Six Flags to help brighten their day. In addition, Kidville (which Amy co-owns) at Preston and Royal will host a boutique sale April 14-20 with 10 percent of sales benefiting the Auxiliary.
