LWB Publicity PhotoWe’ve written about Hockaday’s largest-ever fundraising campaign, celebrating the historic school’s centennial throughout the year. Now, the school kicks off its Centennial Week today through April 12.

It begins with a fine arts showcase at 7:30 tonight in the Centennial Pavilion and culminates with the Centennial Luncheon on Friday afternoon, featuring one notable Preston Hollow neighbor as the keynote speaker: former First Lady, Laura Bush, who also was a Hockaday parent. The luncheon honors alumnae and comprises a full day of activities, performances and demonstrations for Hockaday graduates of all ages.

On Saturday morning, you may see some runners making their ways through the neighborhood. The Daisy Dash 5k remembers a beloved Hockaday teacher, Pete Lohstreter, and raises funds for the ALS Foundation (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Later that afternoon, the sold-out Centennial Family Picnic features singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb.
