At its annual meeting recently, the Dallas region of the American Jewish Committee installed its new president — neighborhood resident Ladd Hirsch. Hirsch is a partner at Diamond McCarthy, LLP and replaces outgoing president Gary Eisenstat, also of Preston Hollow.

Members also heard from Matthew Kalman, a foreign correspondent from Jerusalem, who spoke on, “Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions: Combating the War Against Israel’s Right to Exist.” Kalman relayed his personal experience reporting on the BDS movement and shared his insight.

“So far, the economic effect of the boycott in the home territory of the boycott movement is absolutely negligible,” Kalman said. “For the people behind the campaign in Ramallah, however, the BDS assault on the legitimacy of Israel’s activities in the West Bank is just the opening move in an all-out assault on the legitimacy of the entire State of Israel.”

The AJC Dallas was founded in 1946 and supports the global AJC mission, advocating for security in Israel and Jewish people around the world.
