This year’s budget restored funding to city libraries, providing $3.5 million to keep them open seven days a week. The new hours began April 6 at several locations around Dallas, including our own Preston Royal Branch Library:

1 – 5 p.m. Sunday
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday
10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday-Saturday

It’s one of 13 libraries now open every day. The budget also provided about $1.5 million for libraries to hire new employees.

Preston Royal is one of the most active and heavily-used libraries in the system. Programming includes children’s events, a knitting club, a poetry club.

Plans have been presented for relocating and rebuilding the 50-year-old library at Forest and Nuestra with funding from a future bond package.
