Which Preston Hollow residents do you idolize? Submit their names and stories to buildingcommunityWORKSHOP [bc] and their faces could appear, like those of famous athletes, on trading cards.

The first stack of [bc]HEROES trading cards was released in 2014 and featured Dallasites who “work tirelessly to … bring greater economic, social, and environmental justice” to our city. According to [bc], “the project was expanded in 2015 to include Houston and the Lower Rio Grand Valley.”

“In our work with neighborhoods we learn the stories of incredible people, both past and present, that have shaped our city, and this is our way of sharing those stories,” Lisa Neergaard, [bc]’s Associate Planner, explains. “[bc]HEROES is a way for residents across Dallas, Houston, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley to share who their heroes are in a fun and playful way. So often we focus on honoring the heroes of the past, and this is an opportunity to talk about our present day heroes, the ones working to make our communities the places we love.”
