Want to help keep the Northaven Trail looking its best? Local Boy Scouts are hosting a community work day aimed at sprucing up the popular pedestrian path.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, the day begins at 8 a.m. as volunteers gather at the Freda Stern Respite (see map above). Then, while walking the trail, they will weed, prune and landscape their way along, ensuring a beautiful walkway for all who pass.
The Northaven Trail winds between Northaven Road and Royal Lane, with end points at Valleydale Road and Preston Road. In 2014, a contract from the North Texas Council of Governments agreed to grant the $2.5 million needed, matching the $1.5 million from the city, to extend the trail west to the Walnut Hill/Denton Drive DART station.
