Family violence service agency The Family Place has been operating in Dallas and surrounding areas for 45 years.

The Family Place this month is celebrating $1.15 million raised during the 30th annual Partners Car initiative, presented by Bank of Texas. The sales of each Partners Card, which provides shoppers discounts and perks at participating local businesses over a 10-day period, benefit The Family Place, whose services help survivors of domestic violence “transition from fear to safety.”

Neighborhood businesses and shoppers have been a boon to Partners Card days over the years, The Family Place CEO Mimi Sterling said.

“The success of our signature initiative is because of the continued commitment of our retailers, sellers, sponsors and co-chairs who are passionate about creating brighter futures for survivors of domestic violence in North Texas and beyond,” Sterling said.

“Thanks to their generous investment in The Family Place’s mission, we continue to serve men, women and children in need of safety. I’m grateful for the support of our long-standing and new retail partners, as well as their loyal customers and all who helped make this impact.”

That total raised equates to 15,350 nights of shelter and safety for survivors of domestic violence, according to The Family Place representatives at last week’s Partners Card Reveal Party at Saint Bernard in Inwood Village.

More than 760 participating retailers supported Partners Card during its 30th anniversary in 2022, they told attendees.

Co-chairs Andrea Cheek, Wynne Cunningham, Hannah Fagadau Kaye, and Lisa Hewitt helmed the event. Honorary chair Paula Davis was recognized as the top individual seller followed by Debbie Snell and Cass and Sara Robinson.

Each purchase of a $75 card, which shoppers and diners spend at participating outlets, provides one night of shelter for men, women, and children in need, representatives said. To date, Partners Card has raised more than $21 million for The Family Place.
