The traffic lights at Preston Royal Ln., Midway Rd. and Killion Dr. are nearing completion.
The temporary lights placed at these locations are estimated to be installed by this summer.
There have been several causes for the delays to these plans caused by: having to start the federal funding process over with the Federal Highway Association; material availability and supply chain due to the pandemic; 8 months of waiting to see if FEMA would cover the $1.3 million dollar cost (Dallas did not sustain enough uninsured damage from the 2019 tornadoes to earn this); making sure the 50- year- old traffic lights and bases are in compliance with the Disabilities Act; and delays in fabrication and material delivery.
The City has ordered the traffic lights and is now waiting on their arrival to begin the installation.
