The Episcopal School of Dallas has announced a new endowment to its Outdoor Education Program after an anonymous donation.

Honoring long-time faculty members Eddie Eason and now-retired Peter Lutken, the Lutken Eason Outdoor Education Program Endowment names the program to honor the two men and ensures its continued excellence.

“This gift reinforces a school priority to add significantly to the school’s endowment for the purpose of investing further in people and programs,” said Denis Stokes, ESD’s Chief Advancement Officer in the announcement, “Knowing the school’s priorities, our donor thoughtfully suggested a gift calling attention to an offering unique to ESD while recognizing dedication to the craft of teaching and mentoring. Endowing a program and naming it to honor Peter Lutken and Eddie Eason hits the mark on each account of our priorities.”

Lutken retired in 2014 after teaching for 26 years at ESD, while Eason has recently stepped down from his role as director of the Outdoor Education Program to serve in a reduced role within the program.

The Outdoor Education Program dates back to ESD’s founding in 1974, and now encompasses class and grade-level wilderness trips, as well as the 112-acre Wolf Run Outdoor Education Center near Anna, Texas.
