Hughes Family Tribute Center will host a 10-week dementia care-partner support group beginning Sept. 12 – Nov. 14.

During each weekly session, care partners will acquire insights into various aspects of dementia caregiving. Those interested in participating can attend by registering for a fee of $25, which covers the cost of the workbook and class materials.

“Feeling understood by others brings down barriers between the dementia care partner and the outside world,” co-author of the Dementia Care-Partners workbook, Edward G. Shaw M.d, M.A. “This process of being understood is central to being compassionate with oneself. The more people who are compassionate to the dementia care partner from the outside in, the more they are capable of being self-compassionate from the inside out.”

According to the program’s outline, the initial three weeks will revolve around discussions about dementia’s nature, its distinct stages, and the anticipated variations.

At its core, the Hughes Family Tribute Center aspires to unite families during challenging periods, and their dedication lies in sharing a loved one’s narrative through extraordinary means. As a family-owned and operated funeral home, the Hugheses are adamant about community involvement and host other events throughout the year including their annual Day of the Dead celebrations, Mother’s Day, and other seasonal staples.
