Options into opportunities. Dallas ISD social media image.

I want to take a moment to wish all District 1 families happy holidays. Let us reflect on what this year brought and look forward to being even better in 2024.

Dallas ISD features some of the best schools in the state

U.S. News and World Report recently ranked Dallas ISD’s very own William B. Travis Academy/Vanguard for the Academically Talented and Gifted as the best elementary and middle school in Texas. This recognition shows that our district is the No. 1 school choice option in the area and home to top-ranked elementary and middle schools in Texas. More than 108 Dallas ISD schools were ranked in the Top 40%, with many being included in the top 10%.

Applications for choice and magnet programs are open

The application period for the district’s choice programs is open through January. Now more than ever, Dallas ISD families have a wider variety of options at each grade level. For more information on our academic offerings and upcoming events, please visit www.dallasisd.org/discover

Holiday meals are available at no cost

Dallas ISD will be closed for the Winter Break from Dec. 25 until Jan. 8. To ensure all students have access to nutritious food during this time, the district will distribute pop-up meals at no cost for kids 18 and under, as well as students up to 21 years old with disabilities, at select schools. Each package will include three breakfast and lunch options.
