Due to the surge of passenger volume during this time, Love Field emphasizes the importance of passengers arriving early, ensuring proper flight verification, being mindful of parking options and staying informed about flight details.
“Dallas Love Field does not delay or cancel flights, and our role is not involved in the movement of aircraft on and off the airfield,” a statement reads. “FAA air traffic control determines runway safety based on friction test results.”
The airport recommends that passengers arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure time. Considering the heightened holiday crowds, adding an extra hour for potential changes, layovers, or parking challenges is advisable. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and Love Field provides real-time updates on garage capacity and travel advisories.
In the event of extreme weather conditions—which, let’s face it, can happen—Love Field has a winter preparation plan. The operations team is responsible for treating and clearing runways, taxiways, Herb Kelleher Way and pedestrian walkways. If significant disruptions occur, the airport’s staff will assist passengers needing an overnight stay by providing sleeping cots, blankets and snacks as necessary.
