The Dallas County Master Gardener Association (DCMGA) is reviving its biannual gardening tour with new gardens and educational experiences.

The tour will be on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The DCMGA Tour will showcase five private home gardens, two bonus gardens and a public demonstration. Gardens will feature diverse designs, including terraced backyards, water features, produce gardens, and havens for pollinators and birds.

This year’s gardens will cover the East Dallas and Lake Highlands area, including White Rock Lake’s Bath House Cultural Center. All gardens will be conveniently located in close proximity to one another to allow guests ample walking flexibility and rest.

The DCMGA oversees community and educational gardens in Tarrant County and surrounding areas. The Raincatcher’s Garden at Midway Hills Christian Church near Lovers Lane serves as a research and educational garden. Raincatcher’s Garden supports the DCMGA through the sale of jam, fruit and flowers grown on-site.

In collaboration with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the association facilitates volunteer outreach initiatives. Members undergo extensive training and contribute hours to various gardening projects.

This year, the DCMGA partnered with a school in Paris, France, to support marketing campaign needs for a class project. Gardens will feature QR codes for guests to access educational information about plants. Master Gardeners will be stationed at each garden to offer insights, highlight garden features, and provide gardening tips.

With over 400 members and counting , the Dallas County Master Gardener Association stands as the largest gardening association in the state.

Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase online and at the door starting this month.
