Preston Hollow businessman and philanthropist Randy Bowman was honored at the VolunteerNow Hearts of Texas Luncheon.

Bowman was honored for his achievements in business and his nonprofit organization, AT LAST!, an urban boarding experience for children in poverty. The event, held on April 18 at the Arts District Mansion, attracted about 300 guests and featured a reception at 11:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon at noon.

“The centerpiece of this event is our Lifetime Achievement Award where we honor someone whose life inspires us, and that is Randy Bowman,” VolunteerNow CEO Currie Triska said.

Triska announced at the end of the luncheon that, AT LAST!, Bowman’s organization, “will receive the first formal Goods Grant via our Donated Goods program that will reduce AT LAST!’s operational expenses by $250,000 over the next three years.”

“I’m honored to be receiving this prestigious award and thankful to VolunteerNow for it,” Bowman said when the honoree announcement was made. “My mother taught me that education is the key to a better life. I seek to honor her and the sacrifices she made to enable me to have this adult life.”

The luncheon also featured a video showcasing Bowman, along with remarks from close friends, VolunteerNow board members and Gordon Keith, host of The Ticket.

VolunteerNow, one of the nation’s largest volunteer centers, hosts the luncheon as its signature event, coinciding with National Volunteer Month in April.

For over 17 years, the luncheon has celebrated volunteerism and recognized community leaders with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Past honorees include Lyda Hill, Erle Nye, Roger Staubach and former First Lady Laura Bush.
