The Ebby Halliday Foundation announced plans to indefinitely maintain and preserve the Little White House.

In 2019, the foundation filed a historical recognition application with the city of Dallas for the Little White House and Ebby’s former residence. Signs indicating zoning changes appeared near the intersection of Preston and Northwest Highway, as reported by Candy’s Dirt.

Now, five years later, the preservation of the Little White House is official.

Originally serving as Preston Hollow’s town hall when the area was its own town, the landmark has a deep history.

“The house was built in 1926 by Ira P. DeLoache as a carriage house,” John Wathne told the Advocate, an Ebby Halliday Realtor since 1971. “DeLoache, a developer who owned substantial land in old Preston Hollow, constructed the building.”

Following Preston Hollow’s merger with Dallas, DeLoache sold the property, which was later snagged by Ebby Halliday in 1964.

The house has remained largely unchanged since its construction, with only a few exterior modifications.

In 2026, the white cottage will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
