Dallas police chief Eddie Garcia will participate in The Rotary Club of Dallas’ annual Back the Blue Charity Golf Tournament at Prestonwood Creek Golf Club.

The golf tournament is set for Monday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event, presented by Courtney Underwood, benefits Safer Dallas, a nonprofit founded in 2005 to support the Dallas Police Department and prevent crime. Since its inception, Safer Dallas has raised over $21 million for the department.

The Rotary Club of Dallas’ focuses on local and international issues and helps through community service, humanitarian projects and fellowship.

Safer Dallas relies on the tournament and the board of trustee’s efforts to raise funds that allow for the continued support of our Dallas Police. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the Mounted Patrol among other items,” Stevens said.

The tournament will feature a morning check-in and silent auction at 10 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m. Shotgun starts at noon, with a post-tournament Happy Hour at 5 p.m. The evening will include an awards banquet and dinner with Chief Garcia as the keynote speaker at 6 p.m.

Attendees can bid on “Back the Blue”-themed items, including a police officer ride-along and signed memorabilia, during live and silent auctions. Team and individual awards will be presented for various contests.
