This morning, The Lamplighter School and Uplift Education were part of the Today Show’s morning broadcast at the Perot Museum for the total solar eclipse.

Today Show’s weatherman and host Al Roker was one of the many out-of-townies who clambered to Dallas for the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. Ahead of the today’s biggest moment, seniors from Lamplighter and students from Uplift Education were guests on an early national broadcast.

For many weeks leading up to the eclipse, Dallas ISD has been educating students about the eclipse and the proper way to view the phenomenon.

.Despite a cloudy forecast, Roker shared his optimism about the eclipse, citing a similar experience with weather upset during the 2017 eclipse.

“We do everything big in Texas and Dallas is no exception,” Roker said about Dallas being the biggest city in the line of totality.

The Perot Museum, in collaboration with the Carnegie Institution for Science, hosted a two-part astronomical event, with the first part being the Annual Eclipse last fall.

According to the Today Show, the influx of visitors to Dallas was anticipated to reach half a million and was responsible for contributing over a billion dollars to the local economy.
