Dive Coastal Cuisine, known for its fresh and locally sourced fare, partners with the skatepark, 4DWN, to launch DiveDWN, a new sustainable farm and green venture.
DiveDWN will open on Saturday, May 11 with FutureFrest, a free event from 12 to 5 p.m., featuring a local artisan market from DIVE. Attendees will also enjoy live DJs, youth and female skaters and Mother’s Day-themed activities like flower bouquet crafting.
“Our partnership with 4DWN represents a significant step forward in our mission to make sustainable, fresh food accessible to all,” Dive owner Franchesca Nor said. “Together, we aim to build a community where families can not only enjoy delicious, locally sourced food but also learn to grow their own and reduce food waste.”
The future farm will utilize state-of-the-art Growtainer technology to source fresh produce for the restaurant and serve as a hub for education, cultivation and conservation for the community.
Two climate-controlled containers will enable DIVE to grow up to 36,000 heads of lettuce annually in colder temperatures, with plans for summer crops like tomatoes. A deck will surround the containers and feature outdoor crops with a view of the skate park.
To educate the community, initiatives will include a weekly plant donation drive at the skatepark. Every Sunday at 4DWN, individuals can donate a box of groceries in exchange for a plant from DiveDWN. Cooking and composting classes will also be available.
