THE MEADOWS MUSEUM AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY already boasts one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside of Spain, but a visiting exhibition just increased its bragging rights. The exhibit is the first ever to comprehensively trace Spanish painting from the 1860s to the onset of World War I. And to amass it, the museum borrowed pieces from throughout the world, including the Musee d’Orsay in Paris and the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The Prado’s chief curator of 19th-century painting and sculpture will be among the curators and art historians lecturing at the Meadows Museum international symposium on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – $25 buys a box lunch and ample Spanish art communique. Otherwise, $8 will get you into the museum during regular hours, or visit Thursdays after 5 p.m. for free. For information call 214-768-2516 or visit meadowsmuseumdallas.org.
