Picture this: You’re cuddled in a candlelit booth with your sweetheart, you pour a little more wine and pull the curtain shut for some much-need privacy, and in the background live jazz plays. “You can’t get much more romantic than that,” says Jack Ekhtiar, owner and executive chef of Avanti Euro Bistro. And it’s that kind of romantic vision that inspired him to create an ambiance that engages all of the senses. “I wanted a restaurant that had great food, live entertainment and a relaxing, romantic atmosphere,” he says. So he designed an eclectic Mediterranean menu, a global wine selection, and scoped out local talent to perform live jazz and Mediterranean music every night. “People love the live music so much that we have to clear space for them to dance in the restaurant,” he says. While steak is the house specialty, there’s also a stellar selection of chicken, lamb, duck, and seafood. A Valentine’s Day three-course dinner is in the works.
