Local creatives are partnering with HKS for the second annual TRASHION Show at Galleria Dallas, showcasing garments made from reused or repurposed materials.

As part of Galleria Dallas’ Green Initiative and its ongoing Artist Collective program, the shopping center will host the TRASHION Show in collaboration with global design firm HKS. HKS is the first design firm to join the UN Global Compact, an agreement between the United Nations and global organizations to make the world more sustainable.

“Galleria Dallas is committed to green initiatives and is proud to be an IREM Certified Sustainable Property,” said Megan Townsend, Galleria Dallas director of marketing.

TRASHION will challenge designers to explore innovative ways to reduce waste and address global environmental and social struggles. This year’s theme, “The Elements,” focuses on water, air, earth and fire. Garments will demonstrate resilience against these elements.

Designs must use at least 90% reused or repurposed materials.

“The Elements theme for 2024 allows us to truly highlight the inspiring and beautiful possibilities of recycled materials,” said Caitlin Potter, architect and TRASHION Show champion at HKS.

The designs will appear in the two window displays on level one beginning April 29 through June 23.
