The creator of Dry Soda is a wine lover, but during Sharelle Klaus’s first pregnancy, she quickly discovered a lack of variety in the non-alcoholic drink market. She wanted a drink that wasn’t too sweet and could pair with foods like wine does, but she couldn’t find anything she liked.

Most good ideas are born from searching in vain to find something you want, and Klaus’s story was no different. She set to work, learning how to make soda and mixing up concoctions in her kitchen, and today Dry Soda has four flavors — lemongrass, rhubarb, kumquat and lavendar.

You can find them at restaurants in our neighborhood, like Asian Mint, or at Central Market or Whole Foods.
