UTD’s Callier Center in our neighborhood on Inwood, which helps kids with communications disorders, just received more than $407,000 from United Way. That’s a 42 percent budget increase.
The money will fund three new programs over the next year:
-Pediatric hearing aid services for kids 18 and younger who need initial hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and follow up treatment.
-Cochlear implant program for kids 5 and younger who need evaluations and follow-up visits after surgery.
– Unintelligible speech program for kids 6 and younger with moderate to severe articulation disorders. The program provides intensive therapy for the children and educational information for their parents.
