Through a partnership with Dallas Fire-Rescue, Medical City Hospital has become the first in the county to equip the city’s mobile units with the latest EKG technology, LIFENET. And it makes Dallas the second-largest U.S. city equipped with the system.

LIFENET uses a broadband system that allows paramedics to transmit EKGs from the field to a web-based system at the hospital so care teams can better prepare for the patient’s arrival. Cardiologists receive the information through a handheld device.

Knowing the diagnosis before the patient is wheeled through the doors could shorten the treatment process by 30 minutes or more, helping to improve the outcome.
