Leighelena-Jigsaw-Bracelet Preston Hollow residents know good jewelry, and specialty pieces are becoming more popular each passing day. While I lived in Austin, I became familiar with the work of one particular jewelry artist, El Paso Native Leigh Elena Navarro, creator and owner of Leighelena.

The now Austin based resident’s enamel accessories are both beautiful, organic, and very personal. Navarro uses an enameling technique taught to her by her mother, who now helps her produce her line. The pieces are  made of fused glass and metal, and are the product of unique chemical reactions that occur during firing. After the jewelry is made, Navarro marks each one with a stamp from a collection that was given to her by her grandfather when she was a child. Both the firing process and the stamps ensure each jewelry item comes from the life of the designer herself, and  is one of a kind in chemical makeup and in appearance.

Navarro’s jewelry retails across the United States, Canada, and the British Virgin Islands. One of the many retail locations just happens to be in Preston Hollow. If you are looking to shop Navarro’s handcrafted line (and want the added benefit of personalized service) then stop by Elements Clothing at 4400 Lovers Lane.
