JCC to hold ‘The Sound of Music’ auditions

The Jewish Community Center is calling for neighborhood thespians for the J Players upcoming production, “The Sound of Music”. Auditions runs 8-10 p.m. Nov. 21-22 at the JCC. Performers must present 32 bars of an up-tempo song and a ballad from traditional musical theater. Also, make sure to bring a resume and head shot.

Available roles include Maria Rainer, The Mother Abbess, Sister Berthe, Sister Margaretta, Sister Sophia, Captain Georg von Trapp, Franz (butler), Frau Schmidt (housekeeper), Liesl (age 16), Friedrich (age 14), Louisa (age 13), Kurt (age 10), Brigitta (age 9), Marta (age 7), Gretl (the youngest), Rolf Gruber (age 17), Elsa Schraeder, Ursula, Max Detweiler, Herr Zeller, Baron Elberfeld, Admiral von Schreiber, Neighbors, nuns, novices, postulants and contestants at the Festival Concert.

Call backs will be 7-10 p.m. Nov. 23. Rehearsals will begin Jan. 17, 7-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday. Performances run Feb. 24, 26 and 27. Call 214.239.7115 to set up your audition.
