The Jewish Community Center kicks off the 15th annual Jewish Film Festival of Dallas, opening with “Naomi (Hitparzut X)” at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Angelika Film Center in Plano. The drama, which is in Hebrew with English subtitles, centers on a man and his torment about whether his wife Naomi will leave him for another man. The festival’s second presentation is of the comedy show “Arab Labor”, a sitcom about an Arab Israeli family trying to integrate with the rest of society. Screenings run at 10:30 a.m. (episodes 1-5) and at 2 p.m. (episodes 6-10) Sunday, Sept. 11 in the JCC’s Zale Auditorium. The festival runs through Sept. 22. Go here for a full schedule.

Uncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse presents the Texas Gypsies at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9. The award-winning group mixes several jazz styles, including European Parisian swing (gypsy jazz). Paula Held opens the show. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for youth. Buy tickets online in advance as they often sell out.

Bookmarks Library inside NorthPark Center presents “Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs Puppet Show” by Sandy Shrout at 2 p.m. Saturday in NorthCourt. The show offers a twist to the traditional children’s story.
