Now in it’s 29th year, Jesuit Preparatory School’s annual Celebration Auction has contributed more than $12 million to the school’s endowment, offering financial aid to 26 percent of students. The event aims to help qualified students into Jesuit regardless of their ability to pay.

This year’s auction, themed An Evening in Wine Country, is set for March 31 at the Intercontinental Hotel. The event includes a live and silent auction, dinner and entertainment by the Emerald City Band. There’s also a drawing for a new 2012 BMW 328i convertible. Auction items include vacation packages, jewelry, artwork and golf trips.

Jose Tello is one of Jesuit’s success stories, having attended the school on financial aid. He graduated in 1991 and went on to Harvard and Loyola Law School. Another example is 2007 graduate Joseph Martinez, who is continuing his education as a Fulbright Scholar.
