This morning, an education political action committee known as Dallas Kids First announced its endorsements for the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees race. For all of the contested districts except District 1, as the DMN and other outlets have reported.

Says James Ray of Dallas Kids First, it’s not because there are no good candidates. It’s because each candidate has something valuable to bring to the table, and the PAC was split on who to support.

On its website, you can find the PAC’s scorecards for each of the candidates based on interviews. In District 1, they are all neck-and-neck, except Roland Love who scored lower than the other three. See the scorecard here.

As you know by now, we’ve got four contenders in the District 1 race to replace Edwin Flores who is not seeking re-election. There’s Michael Greenberg, the Degolyer Elementary dad who has received an endorsement from the Dallas ISD teacher group Alliance-ATF. Elizabeth Jones, the businesswoman and UT Dallas professor who has the endorsement of EducateDallas. Jennifer Levy, a retired nurse and Preston Hollow Elementary mom, and attorney Roland Love have yet to receive endorsements from PACs.

Dallas Kids First is a fairly new PAC with an advisory board made up of 23 members who cannot have donated more than $200 to the organization. The decisions on who to support come from the board, also taking into account comments from the 400-or-so members. Here’s a glimpse of a few of them.

You can hear from each of the candidates during a forum 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 2 at Marsh Middle School. It will be moderated by Robert Wilonsky of the Dallas Morning News.
