The Lamplighter School celebrated its success in raising $12.5 million with a concert by Texas musician Jimmy LaFave on Friday. LaFave led the school’s 440 students and 80 faculty and staff members in a sing-along.

The Campaign for the Future fundraiser allowed Lamplighter to purchase the Hockaday land on which it’s been located since the 1960s.

“By all measure, this represents a monumental accomplishment during difficult economic times and underscores the school community’s deep and abiding commitment to Lamplighter,” says Joan Hill, head of Lamplighter, in a press release. “Members of the Lamplighter community continue to demonstrate incredible generosity.”
