FC Dallas signed midfielder and W.T. White alumnus Daniel Garcia as a part of the United States Under-20 (U-20) team that will compete in the World Cup.

The 19-year-old is said to have played well for the professional American soccer club’s reserve team in the past by scoring 15 goals in 29 matches with the FC Dallas Academy in the 2010-11 season.

Garcia was rated No. 12 in the country by College Soccer News and No. 17 by ESPN when he left W.T White.

FC Dallas also signed midfielder Ramon Nunez, another W.T. White alumnus, in March 2013.

“We are really excited to have yet another one of our homegrown players sign with FC Dallas,” FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman says in a news release. “Danny Garcia is a very talented player. Watching him three years ago, we all knew he had a lot of potential.”

Garcia is preparing for the World Cup with his U.S. teammates in Portugal. The first game is against Spain at 12:24 p.m. June 21 at Al Sami Yen Arena in Istanbul. You can watch the match on CT, ESPN2 and WatchESPN. Next they’ll play at 9:45 a.m. June 24 in a match against France, which you can also watch on the same networks. The U.S. will close Group A matches with a 11:45 a.m. June 27 match against Ghana.
