Yesterday, the Good Shepherd Episcopal School at Northaven and Midway presented Texas Health Resources a check for $10,000 to help develop a butterfly garden outside the cancer center at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.

The check was presented in honor of Erin Prendergast, founder of On Butterflies Wings, a project whose mission is to benefit the breast care program at the hospital.

Prendergast is a nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. She is also a parent volunteer at Good Shepherd, teaching butterfly gardening to the children.

Prendergast asked the kindergarten students to help her raise butterflies and decorate pots that she later sold to raise money for the organization. This led to a school-wide project spearheaded by the 8th grade to raise the funds for the butterfly garden at the hospital.
