Dallas City Hall

On June 24, Jennifer Staubach Gates was sworn into office as our District 13 Councilwoman representing Preston Hollow. Since then, she has worked to serve as a liaison between community members and the city on numerous issues including noise complaints, street repair, and facility improvements at local schools — plus saving a man from choking at The Mercury.

In her holiday newsletter to District 13 residents, Gates expresses some of her new goals for 2014:

As a Councilmember I will focus on the following:

٠ To improve the quality of life for all citizens, but especially those living in District 13, by working with the Streets department to improve infrastructure, support the Parks department as they continue to make improvements to our green areas, and to increase safety around our local schools by partnering with DISD.

٠ To increase public safety throughout the City and District by working with our HOA and Crime Watch groups and supporting our Police and Fire protection.

٠ To promote Domestic Violence awareness as Chair of the Domestic Violence Taskforce, and to work towards the goal that every woman feels safe in her home, and if she does not, that she is empowered to seek out helpful resources.

٠ To ensure that all citizens have access to cultural activities, the arts, and libraries.

٠ To stimulate continued economic development. The economy is steadily improving with increased revenues as we leave 2013 behind. Dallas continues to be a desired location for growth, and we are already seeing an increase in requests for new projects.

With a growing economy the City has the opportunity to improve its amenities and services in order to advance the quality of life for all citizens.

I recognize that if the City cannot serve the least, it cannot serve the whole. Each day the Council is challenged to find ways to accomplish this task.

I am honored to serve and take great pleasure promoting our vibrant city. I encourage all citizens to explore our community and share our highlights with friends and family near and far. The people of Dallas are our best assets and can be the best ambassadors, so I challenge each of you to visit something new in Dallas and share the experience with a friend.
