February 8 should be an exciting day at SMU, thanks to Dallas Chamber Music Society. The nonprofit organization has arranged for the Fauré Piano Quartett to play a concert in Caruth Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

The group — comprised of a pianist, cellist, violinist and violist — has performed together for more than 20 years. Expect to hear music by Mahler, Brahms and Fauré (of course). Tickets can be purchased at the door or online. General admission is $40.

If that’s not in your budget, there’s still plenty of culture to soak up that evening. Be at the Meadows School of the Arts at 6:45 p.m. Dr. Till Meyn, an associate professor of music theory and composition at TCU, will deliver a free lecture … While standing on rival turf!
