Councilman Lee Kleinman will attend the Valley View Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting tonight, May 9, from 7-8 p.m. at Spring Valley Elementary School.

“Especially near the LBJ area, there has been a small uptick in crime lately,” Kleinman told the Advocate. “There was one or two nights recently where gunshots were heard.”

Kleinman will be joined by Dallas Police Department Command Staff from the North Central Division, who will lead a discussion about how to deter crime in the neighborhood. Residents will also be able to ask questions.

Kleinman agrees that, compared to some Dallas neighborhoods, Valley View is safer than most. “Part of that is that we have a very active neighborhood association,” he says. “That’s a good thing, they react when something happens.”

The meeting take’s place in the school’s cafeteria at  13535 Spring Grove Ave.
