paint cans

Have some near-empty paint cans you’ve been meaning to dump? Or a bag full of spent batteries you don’t want to end up in a landfill, where it becomes detrimental to the environment? Gather up those unwanted items and head to Forest Lane this Saturday, Sept. 10.

Rain or shine, the city will be collecting batteries, oil (and filters), paint and antifreeze in its BOPA Mobile from 8-11 a.m. in the parking lot at 5639 Forest Lane. The maximum that can be dropped off is 25 gallons of liquid and 50 pounds of batteries.

To drop off items, you must show proof you live in Dallas County, in the form of a driver’s license or utility bill.

Dumping hazardous chemicals down the drain or in the garbage, but such items can be brought to the city’s Chemical Waste Disposal center on Plano Road.
