Mary Kay Ash’s pink mansion soon will be a pile of debris

Cosmetic maven Mary Kay Ash made her mark as an entrepreneur in a time when men dominated the business industry. Her Old Preston Hollow home is just as iconic; the custom-built pink mansion on Douglas Avenue has been engrained in the neighborhood for more than 30 years.

But now it’s being torn down, D Magazine reports, because it’s “so specialized and personalized.” The cost it would take to renovate the pastel pink mansion exceeds its declining worth.

The 11,874-square-foot mansion’s sale price was $1.9 million, after previously being listed at $5.7 million. The property owner is listed as Pelicans Corp. Services LLC, according to D.
