Three things to do this weekend: North Texas Giving Day, celebrity tennis tournament or story time

North Texas’ giving bonanza has returned once again. North Texas Giving Day, which raised $37 million for nonprofits in 2016, is Thursday, Sept. 14. NorthPark is one of the 18-hour event’s donation centers, where local organizations host performances and solicit donations. Get all the details here.

Owen Wilson, Andy Roddick and Mark Knowles join Preston Hollow’s Dirk Nowitzki on the tennis court. The Dirk Nowitzki Pro Celebrity Tennis Classic Saturday, Sept. 16, raises money for children and families impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Watch the celebs compete from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at SMU Tennis Center, near the corner of Mockingbird Lane and North Central Expressway.  Tickets cost $41 and can be purchased here.

Barnes & Noble at Royal Lane is hosting “Princesses Wear Pants” story time Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m.  Written by Savannah Guthrie and Allison Oppenheim, the children’s book revolves around Princess Penelope Pineapple, who doesn’t need frills to accomplish her goals.
