More than a dozen cities across the metroplex are vying for Amazon’s attention, including Dallas, who has pitched several locations as potential headquarters.

Dallas Midtown, the former Valley View Mall site, is one of the contenders. Exposition Park, Victory Park and property in North Oak Cliff also are up for consideration.

Beck Ventures is the developer behind Midtown. Even before Amazon announced it was searching for its second home, CEO Scott Beck believed the mixed-used development could compete with area suburbs for corporate relocations.

The first phase of the project, which includes 500,000 square feet of office space, would be complete by 2020, when Amazon plans to arrive. A light rail line from “North Dallas and Plano to Addison” also is part of Beck’s proposal.
