The City of Dallas Parks Department hosted a community meeting Jan. 23 to discuss options for Phase 1C of the Northaven Trail, according to Friends of the Northaven Trail. Phase 1C will connect the eastern end of the trail with the planned bridge over Central Expressway. Four plans were presented. Option D — a new proposed trail connection north from the Freda Stern respite, between Northaven Gardens and the JCC, and connecting with Northaven Road — was chosen. “Along Northaven, the City would implement designated bike and pedestrian lanes which would ultimately connect with the bridge ramp. Valleydale would be modified slightly to include a sidewalk and have bicycle arrows implemented, all without impacting neighbor parking needs,” reads the statement from Friends of the Northaven Trail. What’s the timing? The City anticipates the Valleydale improvements will be completed by this fall, with the northbound completion to be completed after that.
