The Hockaday School’s soccer and swimming and diving teams came home from a recent Southwest Preparatory Conference tournament as champions.

The soccer team started Friday with a 5-1 win over The Kinkaid School. They advanced to the semifinal round and beat Episcopal High School 4-1. Then they faced off against St. John’s School on Saturday, winning 2-1 to take home the first-place title.

Senior Leena Mehendale has committed to playing soccer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The swimming and diving team also won first place with 119 points overall.

In the 1-meter diving competition, Fiona Chen placed third, Emily Loftus placed fourth, Maddy Sporl placed sixth and Campbell Harris placed seventh.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Olivia Qui, Brooke Adams, Julia Luo and Mary Grace Martin placed first. They set a new school and SPC record with a time of 1:45.80.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Mary Grace Martin placed third.

In the 200-yard IM, Leila Tarighi placed sixth.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Brooke Adams placed first with a time of 23.54.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Julia Luo placed second.

There were three top-eight finishes in the 100-yard freestyle. Brooke Adams came in first, Dixie-Piper Auer came in fifth, and Sarah Roberts finished eighth. Adams set a new school and SPC record with a time of 51.00.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Mary Grace Martin finished second.

The team of Olivia Qiu, Sarah Roberts, Leila Tarighi and Dixie-Piper Auer finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Two Hockaday athletes finished in the top eight of the 100-yard backstroke: Olivia Qui in sixth and Dixie-Piper Auer in eighth.

Julia Luo won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.17.

The team of Brooke Adams, Olivia Qiu, Julia Luo and Mary Grace Martin won the 400-yard freestyle relay.
