The lush ranch of late Dallas oil and gas billionaire T. Boone Pickens has sold after five years.

The 101-square mile Texas Panhandle property was first listed for $250 million in 2017 before it was reduced to $170 million in 2022. Then it was split into two separate properties, which have both been purchased.

A group of buyers under Bill Kent bought the 64,672 square-foot western portion of Mesa Vista Ranch this week, according to Dallas News. Travis Chester, a cattle rancher, bought the 27,000-acre eastern side in September.

Plenty of perks and features are part of the ranch. In addition to a family house and lots of water (right along the Canadian River with Boone’s Creek running parallel) there’s a lighted airpot runway, lake house, pub, gun room and lodge.

One fun fact about the lake house is that the front door originally belonged in Bing Crosby’s house, according to the Hall and Hall listing. The amount both portions sold for was not disclosed.

Pickens was a former Preston Hollow neighbor who was known for his philanthropic efforts. Most of his money went to the Oklahoma State University football stadium bearing his name. He started downsizing after selling his Preston Hollow estate in 2017.

He died in 2019 at the age of 91.
