The Lunar New Year is upon us, and two neighborhood shopping centers have festivals planned.

This year, the Lunar New Year falls on Jan. 22 and also marks the Year of the Rabbit. Rabbits are a symbol of longevity and positivity. That means this year is intended to be a year of hope.

NorthPark Center is partnering with the Crow Museum for a daytime event on Jan. 21. The celebration will include a story time, live rabbits, lion dance, art activities for kids and performance from Dallas Asian Winds.

The event will take place on Level One.

Galleria Dallas will have a full month of celebration with the Lantern Festival starting Friday, Jan. 20.

On the ice rink, visitors can enjoy more than 250 Chinese lanterns. The lanterns will be on display until Feb. 19.
